We thought we were building the commons.
But we built kingdoms.

Web3 was supposed to decentralize power.
But too often, it only redistributed it.
What emerged?
Whales who governed without accountability
Founders as monarchs of permanent governance
Protocols with hidden clauses and hard-coded kingships
\"Decentralized\" systems built on privileged infrastructure
The tools were open.
The culture was closed.
Ownership was tokenized—
but power never truly left the castle.
Web3 created:
Platforms with invisible masters
Ecosystems where early access = lifelong rule
Tokenomics designed to lock in control
Voting rights that favored capital over contribution
In short:
modern feudalism on programmable rails.
Castles in the cloud.
Lords in Discord.
Serfs with stake, but no say.
Because the architecture replicated:
Old ideas of hierarchy
Scarcity-driven economics
Control-based governance
Win-lose incentive logic
And because we didn’t question who we were becoming
when we wrote the smart contracts.
Code became castle.
And most users became peasants.
Sovereignty is not:
Permissioned stake
Governance by wealth
Eternal founders
Sovereignty means:
Power without dependency
Authority through accountability
Systems that decentralize over time, not just at launch
True post-scarcity design dissolves hierarchy
as yield flows to those who tend it.
We now know what not to replicate.
